Quetta: Former Chief Minister and ex-Speaker Jan Mohammad Jamali has warned that highways across Balochistan have become increasingly unsafe, forcing him and several other politicians to avoid traveling by road.
He made the remarks during the intra-party elections of the Balochistan Awami Party, highlighting growing security concerns for government officials.
In his speech, Jamali said the situation has become so tense that no minister can travel by road safely, with some leaders even fearing passage through certain districts.
Citing his own experience, he noted that he avoids passing through Bolan due to security concerns. He also claimed that Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani cannot cross Noshki, while conditions in Kalat and other areas remain alarming.
Recent reports indicate that the influence of Baloch separatist armed groups has been growing along major highways in the province, with daily accounts of checkpoints and snap inspections being set up by these groups.
