
QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: A case has been registered against retired police surgeon Dr Ayesha Faiz under the Anti-Terrorism Act at a CTD police station, while, according to police sources, CTD officials have arrested her.
According to police sources, the case against Dr Ayesha Faiz was registered in connection with a press conference she held at the Quetta Press Club against Balochistan so-called Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and the home minister.
Dr Ayesha Faiz had, a few days earlier, spoken at the press conference on the overall political situation in Balochistan, its historical background and recent events.
She had spoken about the role of women in the Baloch freedom movement. She had also criticised a statement by the Chief Minister of Balochistan regarding the bulldozing of orchards in Mastung in the event of future violent incidents.
Police sources say the case against Dr Ayesha Faiz has been registered under various sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act; however, further details regarding the specific sections invoked, the reasons for the arrest and other legal proceedings have not yet emerged.
