QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The father of a man forcibly disappeared in May has appealed to Balochistan’s government and federal authorities to secure his son’s release, at a press conference held at the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) camp to draw attention to the case.

Speaking to journalists, Khan Muhammad Satakzai said his son, Muhammad Riaz Satakzai, went missing on May 5 while traveling by van from Quetta to Dagari. According to Khan Muhammad, his son was taken into custody by personnel of state institutions at the Dagari FC checkpoint in the Dasht area of Mastung and has not been seen since.

He said several months had passed since his son’s disappearance, but he has neither been recovered nor have authorities provided the family with any information about his whereabouts. Khan Muhammad said the family had met with senior FC officials and representatives of various government departments in an effort to secure information, but that these efforts had not yielded any results.

He described the prolonged uncertainty as a source of severe distress for the family, saying that not knowing his son’s fate for months had caused the family immense psychological anguish.

Khan Muhammad, joined by his wife, Zaib-un-Nisa, called on national and provincial authorities, as well as all relevant institutions, to secure his son’s immediate recovery and to provide the family with information about his condition and whereabouts.

He said that if any case or allegation exists against his son, he should be presented before a court of law and granted his full legal right to defend himself, adding that keeping any citizen cut off from their family for such an extended period was deeply distressing.

The parents appealed to the media to help convey their case to senior officials and thanked journalists for attending the press conference.
