Gwadar: At least nine people were killed and dozens injured after a passenger bus overturned on the Makran Coastal Highway near Ormara in Balochistan, officials said.
The bus, identified as Al-Usman, was traveling from Karachi to Jiwani when it reportedly went out of control due to overspeeding and crashed off the road. Witnesses said the impact was severe, leaving the vehicle badly damaged and passengers trapped inside.
Rescue operations were launched immediately after the accident, with local residents, Levies, police, and rescue teams reaching the site. The injured and the bodies of the deceased were shifted to a nearby hospital in Ormara.
Hospital authorities said 36 passengers were injured, including seven who remain in critical condition.
Police said initial investigations suggest overspeeding as the primary cause of the accident, adding that a formal inquiry has been launched to determine the exact circumstances.
The incident has sparked renewed concern over road safety on the Makran Coastal Highway, where residents have repeatedly raised alarms about reckless driving and inadequate safety measures.
