KHUZDAR, BALOCHISTAN: Multiple young men from the Wadh, Sarona and Shah Noorani areas have reportedly been forcibly disappeared after being taken into custody by a local group identifying itself as an “Aman Force” (peace force).
The individuals reported to have disappeared are named as follows:
- Abdul Wahab, son of Muhammad Rahim (Merajee Mengal)
- Sikandar, son of Muhammad Ismail (Daulat Khanzai Mengal)
- Naseer Ahmed, son of Abdul Ghani (Chhatta)
- Zahir Ahmed, son of Muhammad Hashim (Daulat Khanzai Mengal)
- Gul Muhammad (Dinarzai Mengal)
- Javed Dinarzai Mengal, son of Gul Muhammad
- Muhammad Dinarzai Mengal, cousin of Gul Muhammad
- Sami Ullah, son of Ghulam Nabi (Gumshadzai Mengal)
- Nizam, son of Abdul Hakeem (Palezai Mengal)
Family members say none of the disappaered individuals are affiliated with any political party or organization and allege they were detained without justification and subjected to enforced disappearance. They have demanded that if the men have indeed been arrested, their detention be formally acknowledged and their families be informed of their current condition and location.
The families have called for a transparent, impartial and effective investigation into the matter, along with legal action against those responsible. They warned that if their relatives are not recovered immediately, they will be compelled to take to the streets and stage road blockades in protest and that responsibility for any resulting disruption would rest with the local administration.
It is not worthy to call the Aman Force (Peace Force) operates under the Pakistani Army and has been accused of forcibly disappearing and killing civilians and political workers, as well as carrying out robberies in different areas of Balochistan.
In Dera Bugti and surrounding areas, the Aman Force is active and civilians have reportedly been forcibly disappeared and killed after being detained. Their families have witnessed these incidents. Political parties and human rights organizations have also raised concerns regarding the Aman Force and death squads in Balochistan.
In Dera Bugti, the Aman Force operates under Aftab Bugti, the brother of Puppet Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, while in the Wadh and Khuzdar areas, the death squad is led by Mir Shafiq-ur-Rehman Mengal.
