KACHHI, BALOCHISTAN: The United Baloch Army (UBA) claimed responsibility on Monday for a sniper attack on Pakistani military personnel stationed at a cantonment in the Sanni area of Balochistan’s Kachhi.
According to a statement issued by the group, its specialised sniper unit opened fire on personnel at the cantonment at around 9 a.m., killing one soldier and destroying two surveillance cameras. The group said a separate unit of its fighters simultaneously launched an assault on the cantonment using automatic weapons, claiming further casualties and damage to the forces stationed there.
The statement claimed that Pakistani forces responded during the operation with artillery fire and quadcopter drone strikes targeting the attackers’ positions, but that these strikes failed to hit their targets. The group said its fighters completed the operation and withdrew safely from the area to their hideouts.
UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch said in the statement that such attacks would continue until what the group calls the “liberation of Balochistan”.
