KHARAN/NOSHKI, BALOCHISTAN: Pakistani forces’ checkpoints came under attack twice within hours in the Kharan and Noshki districts, with militants using rockets, LMGs and other heavy weaponry in both incidents.
According to the source, the first attack occurred late last night around 9:30 PM at a checkpoint in the Zareen Jungle area, situated between Kharan and Noshki. According to sources, armed men surrounded two picquets of the checkpoint before launching a heavy assault with rockets, LMG machine guns, and other advanced weapons. The attack reportedly caused casualties and losses to the Pakistani forces.
A second attack followed this morning (July 7) at an FC checkpoint in the Gharok area of Kharan. Local sources said the attackers closed in on the checkpoint from extremely close range before opening fire, prompting forces to respond with multiple mortar rounds fired into the surrounding area.
Sources said the militants again used rockets and other heavy weapons in this attack, which is also believed to have caused casualties to the Pakistani forces.
No organization has so far claimed responsibility for either attack.
