QUETTA, BALOCHISTAB: The protest camp of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) outside Quetta Press Club continued for the 6,207th consecutive day on Sunday, under the leadership of Chairman Nasrullah Baloch, maintaining what has become one of the longest running continuous protests against enforced disappearances in history.
The camp was attended by Comrade Ghaffar Qambrani, Hani Baloch and several others who expressed solidarity with the families of missing persons, voiced deep concern over enforced disappearances and extrajudicial measures and demanded the immediate recovery of all forcibly disappeared individuals.
Addressing the protest camp, VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch stated that enforced disappearances constituted a grave violation of both human rights and constitutional principles and demanded their immediate end.
“Enforced disappearances are a serious violation of human rights and constitutional principles and must be stopped immediately,” Nasrullah Baloch said.
He demanded that all forcibly disappeared persons be recovered without delay and called on authorities to present before courts of law any individuals against whom charges existed, in accordance with due legal process.
Nasrullah Baloch reaffirmed the organisation’s unwavering commitment to its cause, stating that VBMP would continue to raise its voice until enforced disappearances were brought to an end and all missing persons were recovered and returned to their families.
The VBMP protest camp outside Quetta Press Club stands as a powerful and enduring symbol of the enforced disappearances crisis in Balochistan. Having now surpassed 6,207 consecutive days, the camp represents over seventeen years of uninterrupted protest by families who continue to wait for news of their missing loved ones.
The organisation has consistently documented cases of enforced disappearances across Balochistan, where thousands of individuals predominantly young men have been taken into custody without formal charges, trials, or any official acknowledgement of their detention by Pakistani authorities.
