KALAT, BALCOHISTAN: The body of an Airport Security Force (ASF) Deputy Director who was abducted by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) nearly a month ago has been recovered in Balochistan’s Kalat, police confirmed.
The victim, identified as 58-year-old Muhammad Waseem Ahmad of Karachi, was travelling from Quetta to Karachi on May 20 in a private vehicle along with a colleague and two drivers when armed men intercepted their car in the Muhammad Tawa area, approximately 40 kilometres from Kalat.
According to police, the gunmen stopped the vehicle, identified Muhammad Waseem Ahmad and his colleague by name, and took them away. The two drivers and the vehicle were released shortly after. The drivers subsequently reported the incident to Kalat’s Sadar Police Station, triggering a search operation involving police, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Frontier Corps (FC) and other agencies, all of which proved unsuccessful.
A case was registered at the CTD police station following the abduction.
The BLA claimed responsibility for the kidnapping shortly after. Spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said in a brief statement that ASF Deputy Director and Commanding Officer Waseem Ahmad had been taken into custody after being identified on the main Kalat highway. He added that the operation was carried out on intelligence provided by the BLA’s intelligence wing, Zirab.

On Wednesday, Muhammad Waseem Ahmad’s body was recovered from a deserted location in the Toke area, approximately two kilometres east of the Quetta-Karachi national highway, within the jurisdiction of Kalat’s Sadar Police Station. A senior Kalat Division administration official confirmed the recovery to media on condition of anonymity. Kalat Police Control also independently confirmed the discovery.
The fate of Muhammad Waseem Ahmad’s colleague, who was abducted alongside him, remains unknown. Authorities have not issued any statement regarding his whereabouts.
