MASTUNG / NOSHKI: Armed individuals carried out separate incidents of highway blockades and vehicle seizures across Balochistan, further escalating a wave of attacks on major roads in Balochistan.
In the Mastung district, armed men set up a checkpoint at Sheikh Wasil on the Quetta-Taftan central highway early in the morning, conducting searches and seizing seven large vehicles including trailers and bowser tankers. Authorities have yet to issue any official statement regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, in Noshki’s Mal area, the unknown armed individuals set fire to bowser vehicles. Sources confirmed the incident, though details are yet to be independently verified.
The twin incidents come amid a growing pattern of highway attacks across Balochistan. In recent days, attacks have been reported on major roads in Mastung, Noshki, and Panjgur, targeting both Pakistani security forces’ convoys and vehicles carrying minerals and goods. The Baloch Armed Groups has claimed responsibility for several of those attacks.
The continued violence has severely disrupted transportation in the region. Associations of vehicles transporting minerals and goods had previously suspended loading operations in protest, though they agreed to postpone a planned strike following assurances from authorities. Despite those government guarantees, attacks have continued unabated.
