BYC Report

Quetta: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has released its annual report for 2025, documenting widespread cases of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings across Balochistan and adjoining regions. According to the report, a total of 1,223 cases were recorded during the year.

The report provides a breakdown based on age and gender, showing that victims of enforced disappearances come from diverse segments of society:

  • Adults (18–60 years): 411
  • Children: 75
  • Women: 18
  • Elderly individuals: 2
  • Individuals of unknown age: 735

BYC stated that these figures demonstrate that state repression is not limited to young men alone, but also affects women, children, and elderly people, underscoring the gravity of the human rights situation in the region.

District-Wise Data

The report also presents district-wise statistics on enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings:

  • Kech: 339 enforced disappearances, 66 extrajudicial killings
  • Awaran: 144 enforced disappearances, 41 extrajudicial killings
  • Panjgur, Gwadar, Khuzdar, Kalat, Dera Bugti, Quetta: Each district recorded more than 70 enforced disappearances
  • Harnai: Only 1 enforced disappearance reported, but 9 extrajudicial killings
  • Karachi, Dera Ghazi Khan, Jacobabad: Also listed among affected areas

Overall, the report documents 188 cases of extrajudicial killings, highlighting what BYC described as the severe and systematic nature of state repression.

Beyond Balochistan

According to BYC, the issue of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings is no longer confined to Balochistan alone but has extended into border regions of Sindh and Punjab, raising serious human rights concerns at the national level.

The committee called for urgent international attention, stressing that the ongoing violations constitute a grave humanitarian crisis requiring immediate action from global human rights organizations and international institutions.
