Quetta: The protest camp of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) outside the Quetta Press Club has now entered its 16th year and 13th day of continuous demonstration against enforced disappearances in Balochistan.
On Tuesday, VBMP Vice Chairman Mama Qadeer Baloch visited the camp after recovering from illness. During his visit, he held discussions with various delegations regarding the issue of enforced disappearances and the overall human rights situation in Balochistan. VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch was also present at the camp during the meeting.
Expressing deep concern over the worsening situation in the province, the VBMP stated that enforced disappearances have intensified in Balochistan, with people missing for decades. The organization highlighted the increasing trend of forced disappearances of women, which it says has severely shaken public confidence in justice and the rule of law.
“The state is using collective punishment as a tool to suppress voices advocating for human rights, political freedom, and civil liberties,” the VBMP spokesperson said.
The organization reiterated its demand for the immediate recovery of all missing persons and the restoration of political and social rights in Balochistan. VBMP emphasized that the state must distinguish between armed groups and peaceful citizens, advocating that rather than collective punishment, the state should promote peaceful political engagement, freedom of expression, and constructive dialogue.
“Only through such measures can we reduce the unrest in society and address the psychological trauma that has deprived generations of peace and happiness,” the statement concluded.
