Rahim Baloch, former Secretary General of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), condemned the Anti-Terrorism (Balochistan Amendment) Act 2025, recently passed by the puppet assembly in occupied Balochistan, as a blatant effort to give legal cover to the heinous crime of enforced disappearances.
In a post on social media platform X, Rahim Baloch said that rather than criminalizing enforced disappearances, the act seeks to legitimize this grave violation, exposing the colonial nature of rule in Balochistan.
He further criticized the puppet MPAs, stating that they have neither the legal mandate nor moral authority to legislate, as they were not elected by the people of Balochistan but appointed by the Corps Commander Quetta. “They are accomplices in crime. No law can legitimize enforced disappearances,” he said.
Rahim Baloch emphasized that the Baloch nation is well aware of the systemic oppression and genocide inflicted on them not only by the Pakistani military, intelligence agencies, and security forces but also by the state itself. He accused Pakistan’s legislature, executive, judiciary, and propaganda media of attempting to provide legal cover for military crimes in Balochistan.
He also pointed out that occupied Balochistan is effectively ruled by the military, intelligence agencies, and their private militias. The puppet government in Balochistan is headed by Sarfraz Bugti, who is linked to the private militia known as Bugti Peace Force, led by his brother Aftab Bugti.
