The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has raised serious concerns over the worsening health conditions of its leaders who have been on a hunger strike for the past four days in jail. According to a statement issued by BYC, Chairperson Dr. Mahrang Baloch, senior leaders Shah Ji Sibghatullah, Bibgar Baloch, Beebow Baloch, and Gulzadi Baloch are experiencing rapid health deterioration due to their ongoing protest.
The BYC stated that the hunger strike was initiated against the transfer of Beebow Baloch from Huda Jail, Quetta to Pishin Jail, and the reported assault by CTD and police personnel on Dr. Mahrang, Beebow, and Gulzadi Baloch inside the prison.
BYC condemned what it termed as “state oppression,” saying that Pakistan is setting a grave precedent of brutality against Baloch women leaders behind bars. “As a nation, we are recording these acts of tyranny in our collective memory. We will neither forgive nor forget,” the statement declared.
It further asserted that the state’s intoxication with power is temporary, emphasizing that history is filled with examples of the downfall of fascist regimes. The committee warned that the Baloch nation would seek collective retribution through the strength of its people.
In its concluding remarks, BYC called on all political and social organizations of the Baloch nation to stand in solidarity with the committee and take practical steps against the ongoing oppression.
