
Shal (Monitoring Desk): According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) to the media, an emergency meeting of the central cabinet members and senior party leaders was held at the residence of party’s Senior Vice President, Sajid Tareen Advocate, in Shal. The meeting was attended by BNP’s Central Deputy Secretary General Malik Nasir Shahwani, Central Secretary Information Agha Hassan Baloch, Central Finance Secretary Akhtar Hussain Langove, Central Labor Secretary Musa Baloch, Central Broadcasting Secretary Qudoos Kurd, and other central executive members including Ghulam Nabi Mari, Haji Basti Lehari, Tabloch, Jamal Mengal, Chairman Javed Baloch, Hamkari Shafqat Langove, Chairman Waheed Baloch, Fatah Ali Zai, Central Secretary General of BSO Samand Baloch, Central Secretary Information of BSO Shakur Baloch, Mir Maqbool Lehari, Haji Waheed Lehari, and others.
According to the spokesperson, the meeting strongly condemned the oppression and brutality faced by Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sammi Deen and other Baloch women and youth, as well as the unjust arrests and violence. The meeting also noted that the positive traditions of Balochistan were being trampled upon on a daily basis. Given the current circumstances, the BNP, as a national party, recognizes its political responsibilities and has announced a schedule of protests. According to the schedule:
- On March 25th, a Shutter Down Strike will be observed across Balochistan.
- On March 26th, protests will be held in front of press clubs across Balochistan.
- On March 28th, a Long March from Wadh to Quetta will begin under the leadership of party leader Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal.
The spokesperson emphasized that the purpose of these protests is to demand the release of Mahrang Baloch and other women and youth, the withdrawal of baseless cases, and an end to the violations of the sanctity of homes and the dignity of Baloch people. The meeting highlighted that there is widespread anger and frustration across Balochistan due to these violations. BNP has instructed its district presidents, general secretaries, deputy unit secretaries, and workers to ensure their participation in the strike, protests, and the long march, and to maintain close contact with the public.
They said, meeting also appealed to progressive, nationalistic political parties and the general public to play their national role in addressing the deteriorating situation in Balochistan.
