The Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement (Paank) has strongly condemned the recent severe human rights violations in Balochistan. Paank stated that on the morning of March 20, Pakistani security forces raided the house of senior Baloch Yakjehti Committee member Bebarg Baloch and forcibly disappeared him along with his younger brother, Dr. Hammal Zehri. Bebarg Baloch is physically disabled and an active and influential member of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, who was raising a strong voice against human rights violations in Balochistan.

Paank further stated that, similarly, Dr. Ilyas Baloch, the Vice Principal of Bolan Medical College in Quetta, was also forcibly disappeared and transferred to an unknown location, which is part of the aggressive policies of Pakistani security forces and is highly condemnable.

The organization emphasized that enforced disappearances in Balochistan are not just a political issue but grave violations of human rights aimed at instilling fear among the Baloch people, suppressing their voices and silencing resistance against the ongoing oppression and brutality in the region.

The statement also highlighted that Pakistani security agencies do not consider an individual’s profession or social services, as people from all walks of life are being subjected to enforced disappearances.

Paank recalled that in the past, numerous doctors, teachers, students and other professionals have fallen victim to enforced disappearances, while many bodies have been recovered in mutilated condition, which is deeply concerning and condemnable.

In its statement, Paank appealed to the international community, the United Nations, Amnesty International, the International Court of Justice and other human rights organizations to take immediate notice of the ongoing state repression and human rights violations in Balochistan. The Paank urged that Pakistan be held accountable and that the Baloch people be freed from oppression and brutality.

Paank reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its struggle against the atrocities inflicted on the Baloch people.
