Baloch Yakjehti Committee’s Organizor Dr. Mahrang Baloch has issued a grave warning from Dalbandin, highlighting the Pakistani state’s attempts to suppress a scheduled national gathering on January 25th to protest the ongoing Baloch genocide.
In a message to the Baloch nation and the international community, Dr. Baloch reported a heavy deployment of Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and police forces in Dalbandin. Convoys traveling from other parts of Balochistan are being intercepted and barred from entering the city.
Furthermore, Dr. Baloch revealed that the Pakistani military conducted a door-to-door campaign in Dalbandin, issuing threats to residents to discourage their participation in the upcoming gathering. The situation is further exacerbated by a complete internet blackout in the region, effectively silencing the voices of the Baloch people.
Dr. Baloch expressed deep concerns that the internet shutdown could be exploited by the state to justify a violent crackdown on the peaceful gathering.
Despite the immense pressure and threats,Dr. Baloch urged the Baloch nation to defy these attempts and reach Dalbandin to participate in the national gathering. She also appealed to those unable to travel to Dalbandin to raise their voices on social media platforms, wherever possible, to support the cause.
Dr. Baloch called upon international human rights organizations to intervene immediately and condemn the internet blackout in Dalbandin. She stressed that such actions not only violate fundamental rights to freedom of expression and assembly but also set a dangerous precedent of suppressing dissent through force and digital censorship.
Dr. Baloch urged these organizations to exert pressure on the Pakistani authorities to restore internet services immediately and ensure the safety and security of the Baloch people during the peaceful gathering. She emphasized that the international community must not remain silent in the face of these repressive measures, as their silence could embolden further human rights violations in Balochistan.
